Cloud Radar

The Cloud Radar instrument is backed by the RPG FMCW 94 GHz radar Zarr and is shown as a height-time product in the interactive dashboard.

Interactive behavior

  • interactive tab shows recent radar windows from the Zarr
  • the builder drops invalid and clearly bogus future timestamps before writing the Zarr; the app keeps a defensive future-time mask for recent windows and plot bounds
  • availability bars make true data gaps visible across the selected time range

Quicklooks

  • science quicklooks show archived daily radar products
  • latest and daily science quicklooks share the same compact eight-panel layout, with boxed panel labels, a common UTC x-axis, and fixed colorbar gutters so the saved PNGs do not carry large blank margins
  • housekeeping quicklooks include HK_Radar, which is generated from the raw RPG LV1 support variables rather than the radar science Zarr

HK_Radar currently groups:

  • sample cadence and radar status
  • DD voltage, IF power, and brightness temperature
  • transmitter, receiver, and PC temperatures
  • transmitter power
  • antenna elevation, azimuth, and inclination
  • surface meteorology measured by the radar system
  • rain, liquid water path, and cloud-base ancillary products

Source mirror

Raw files are mirrored under:

  • /project/aurora/raw/rpgfmcw94

The housekeeping quicklook reader scans these raw files directly because the instrument support channels are not stored in /data/aurora/products/rpgfmcw94/cloud_radar.zarr.
